Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to some of the questions you might have about the badminton club. Any questions that are not answered can be sent to us via the messaging service provided on the contacts page.

[2] Why do I need to buy a sports centre membership to join the badminton club?

Unfortunately this is not a decision made by the badminton club. It is university policy that every AU club member using the sports facilities must have a minimum of a bronze sports centre membership, otherwise you will be charged £5 every time you attend a badminton session.  Plus the membership  gives you numerous benefits - check out the memberships page.

[1] Where can I buy badminton membership?

Membership can be bought from the badminton stall at fresher's fair, or it can be purchased online here.  Don't forget to purchase a sports centre membership too. This can be bought online here or at the sports centre itself. Check out our memberships page for more details.

[3] What do the social club sessions involve?

The social club sessions are a great place to play badminton in a relaxed atmosphere. The club provides shuttles and a peg board system, which organises the court time so that everyone gets a fair allocation. Just turn up with a racket anytime during the session and join in.

[4] How do I join the IMS social badminton league?

To join the IMS league you first need to be a member of both the badminton club and the sports centre. Information on how to become a member can be found here. Then contact the IMS badminton officer Pascal Wye and he will enter you into a league and provide you with further information.

[5] How do I trial for the badminton squad?

Trials for the badminton squad will be held at University park on 27th September 2014. Check our home page or Facebook page for more details nearer the time.

Trials will cost £2 payable at Fresher's fair or on the day.
